Imagine summer theater-in-the-park, concerts, and entertainment during the Warner Fall Foliage Festival.  Help us to make this dream a reality by funding the Kearsarge Family Amphitheater, the second phase of the Jim Mitchell Community Park.  The park opened last October with a spectacular stone terrace surrounded by a granite wall, the Heritage Walkway with supporters’ inscribed bricks connecting to the Pillsbury Free Library, and seven commemorative cedar benches nestled around the grassy shade of the ancient Mulberry Tree.  This summer is equally exciting, as we move toward the completion of the park plantings, the rainwater collection irrigation system, and the installation of four solar panels to provide all of the park’s electricity; a fully sustainable community park to be enjoyed by all, right in the center of the Warner village!

Be  One of the Ten!  This second phase of the park, the outdoor performance stage and terraced amphitheater, needs your support today.  MainStreet Warner, Inc. is seeking ten (10) individuals or families to contribute a minimum of $5,000 toward the construction of the Kearsarge Family Amphitheater by this October, in time to celebrate during the Warner Fall Foliage Festival.  Built by local craftsmen in the classic New England post-and-beam framing tradition, the stage’s sound and lighting will be powered by the sun, with cedar benches placed throughout the amphitheater’s gently terraced hillside.  Your contribution NOW will complete this project, and celebrate the families that have built this community.  Have you or your family recognized on the large bronze-cast plaque to be displayed prominently on the stage, to forever be enjoyed as a town center for entertainment and relaxation.  We are grateful to all those who have already donated, and please consider being One of the Ten!

2011 Jim Mitchell Scholarship Winners

The Board of MainStreet Warner, Inc. is pleased to announce the fourth annual recipients of the Jim Mitchell Memorial Scholarship.  A scholarship committee made up of townspeople and former recipients reviewed the applications and awarded $500 scholarships to the following Warner high school graduates;  Matthew Stasalovich, heading to the  University of Maine/Farmington;  Jennifer Cookingham, heading to Colby Sawyer College; and Elaina Love, also heading to Colby Sawyer College.  Through monies raised throughout the year by the non-profit, this is awarded in Jim Mitchell’s memory for community involvement, acts of kindness and thoughtfulness with no expectation of reward or recognition, and for a clear understanding of the impact that the community has had on their lives, as they venture out as our new “ambassadors of Warner”.

August 4, 2011 - MSW, Inc was proud to host a wine and cheese reciption honoring George Pillsbury IV (great-grandson of George and Margaret), and coauthor Lori Sturdevant, who are the authors of the book, “The Pillsburys of Minnesota.” The Jim Mitchell Community Park is built on the grounds of the 1840’s home of George, Margaret, and Charles Pillsbury.  George Pillsbury donated the Warner library in the late 1800’s, and Charles started the Pillsbury Flour Company after he moved to Minnesota in the late 1800s.   Click here for photos of the event.  Thank you to all who attended this lovely evening!
